A different kind of complex sentence uses a relative pronounwho, whose, whom, which, that.

My teacher, who loves science, showed us the globe.

       (The relative pronoun who is the subject of loves science.)

He pointed to the Atlantic Ocean, which divides the Old World from the New.

       (The relative pronoun which is the subject of divides the Old World from the New.)
