Using Verbs

Every sentence has a verb. It tells what the subject is doing or being.

Jamal paints a picture.

       (The verb paints tells what Jamal is doing—he paints.)

Jamal is artistic.

       (The verb is tells what Jamal is being—artistic.)

An action verb tells what the subject is doing.

He creates a strong outline.
