The conjunctions and and or join ideas that are equal in importance. Those ideas should also have the same grammatical form.

Romeo and Juliet

       (proper noun and proper noun)

to be or not to be

       (infinitive phrase and infinitive phrase)

So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,

       (dependent clause or dependent clause)

So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.
