Avoiding Pronoun Errors

A pronoun and its antecedent must agree in person (first, second, or third), number (singular or plural), and gender (masculine, feminine, or neuter). Avoid pronoun shifts.

Incorrect: Jared receives a peer response on their essay.

       (Jared is singular, but their is plural.)

Correct: Jared receives a peer response on his essay.
